Client: Foyles (Illustration project commissioned by Foyles Bookshop and curated by cultural platemaking agency Futurecity, to be displayed large-scale for one year (May 2013 - May 2014) over the front of their new building as it was being reconstructed on London''s Charing Cross Road. The illustration had to work at large scale outside, and had to attract both the casual observer as well as those familiar with Foyles and Central Saint Martins. It had to be not-too-confusing at close-range, but also interesting as an overall piece. The imagery needed to be visually exciting, as the fast-paced, constantly moving nature of Central London demands that additions be eye-catching so as not to fade into the noise. I wanted to make an image which would celebrate the happy-chaos of London life, while simultaneously showing both Foyles and Central Saint Martins as focal points of the city, with the new Foyles building as the ultimate centre - with a bit of magic all around. Individual elements reflect various insider-knowledge nods to both Foyles'' and London''s storied histories.)
