Illustration based on a passage from Virginia Woolf’s short story ‘Street Haunting: A London Adventure’ – created as part of a series for exhibition presenting collaborative work between Central Saint Martins MA students and Kings College London PhD candidates at Somerset House, in London.
“The very sight of the bookseller’s wife with her foot on the fender, sitting beside a good coal fire, screened from the door, is sobering and cheerful.”
-Virginia Woolf, Street Haunting.
The illustration visualised the above passage, and considered the many references to water in the story – a theme repeated throughout the series – by including various visual references to this theme.
