The human body is beautiful. For Tyrion’s portrait, I reflected upon the hyper-awareness American culture has with body image and its attempts to realize impossible ideals. Given that nearly all public media images are retouched and manipulated, few body types are portrayed truthfully, distorting the reality of what is possible and normal. For this reason I wished to convey a reinstitution in the confidence of self and sexuality deprived from most people, most especially from that of Little People. Through marriage of a rarely viewed body type with that of historical, sensual portraiture, I wish to celebrate the individual and reject the pressurized ideals of popular media.
