Apple Computers has plans to scan the photos off all Apple users for child pornography. The plans have been put on hold for now due to backlash from cryptographers and privacy advocates. This illustration is a play on the 1984 Super Bowl ad announcing the arrival of the first Macintosh computer. It proclaimed Macintosh was why 1984 wouldn’t be like the dystopian George Orwell novel “1984”. Once Apple incorporates this new scanning technology into iPhones and iPads, there is a very good chance Apple will be pressured by our government, and other governments, to conduct unlawful surveillance on average citizens.
