Medium: Mixed Media, Made using mixed media, these original paintings use handmade pigments, sandalwood ash, and metallic powders adding a glittering shine, so the paintings are sparkling and fragrant, just like the rock paintings in the caves of Mogao in olden days. I also used gold paper, silver paper and gold leaf into the composition of the paintings.
This artist’s picture book for all ages shows that life is a journey, and the sometimes difficult emotions we experience: feelings of frustration, being rejected, restricted, abandoned, and being shocked by the vast darkness, as well as the beauty that we encounter along the way.
The little black ant, our protagonist, is a common and often overlooked existence. However, the fate of this little creature is akin to the sole subject of all sentient life: pushing the boundaries of oneself. In this understanding, the perspective of this “negligible” life is not so unfamiliar to us.
During the trip, the little black ant was also struck with fear and anxiety. After secretly escaping, it came across various events. Its vision became wider and wider, and later it realized that life was a constant process of imagining the outside world while gradually drifting away from oneself and then paradoxically, reuniting with self again and again.
