The twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac are not only integrated into Chinese life as
ordinary twelve animals, but their natural habits are also endowed with many cultural meanings and the characteristics of the
animals hold people’s bright expectations.

Through my illustrations, I intend to convey to the audience the special characteristics of each species in this series and perhaps
challenge common misconceptions about some animals. I also hope that my illustrations will be enjoyable to viewers even if they are unaware of the history of the Chinese
zodiac. I made the decision that this body of work would be readable by people from all cultural backgrounds when I decided to draw influence from traditional Chinese culture.
