In this work the protagonist is an organ grinder. This is a still existing figure in Mexico, where these men can be seen on the streets and squares of México city . These instruments are old and are about to disappear, and this fact creates a deep melancholy in those who listen: originally, these instruments are German and they don’t exist anymore in Europe and in Germany specifically. Through their music, the past becomes the present and suddenly you have the illusion to be back in the 30s, bringing some sense of sadness in the listeners. This image wants to celebrate the past and underline how progress is cancelling traditions and their roots, above all in the Mexican culture.
