This image is a celebration of death, a figure which in Mexico has a lot of importance. Its meaning is not negative like in the rest of the world. Here, death embraces life, and Death is the beginning of life: without it, there would not be Life. This illustration celebrates the circle of Life and show the essential role of Death as a vital force. On the pitcher on the left side there is a Zapotec symbol, coming from a pre-Hispanic culture in the south of Mexico, whose meaning is fertility. So, Death and Life are like sisters, necessary to each other. On the background, the cempasúchil , flowers which are donated to dead people because their perfume attracts people who passed away. Their strong colors are compared with the Sun light.
